"House Hunting" in Borough

Dress: c/o Borough "The French Quarter 3/4 Sleeve Shift" in House Hunting || Wedges: Banana Republic (old, super similar here & if you want to splurge these are SO good!) || Clutch: Sophie and Trey (old, similar here) || Bangles: Bourbon & Bowties || Apple Watch w/ This Band

If there was any city in the US I could see myself living in ASAP it would have to be Charleston. I've taken two trips there - one a 13 person girl's weekend & the other an unforgettable weekend with my bestie, Asha- and both of them rank among some of my most special memories! It's like being in the city transports me to another time and place & all my day to day worries just slide right on off as I play in the city full of southern charm!

So you can imagine my delight when I discovered Borough- a dress & accessory line designed and handmade in Charleston, SC. Each and every one of Ashley's prints (the sweetest and most delightful owner there ever was) celebrate the "low county lifestyle" that Charleston is known for, and putting on a Borough dress transports you there! The print I picked out is called "House Hunting" and pays homage to the famous architecture in the city- especially their colorful row houses. Wearing this dress just fills me with all the memories of my times in the Holy City- and makes strutting in my Borough a special occasion :)

What pieces in your closet are filled with special memories?

Sunday Scripture

I'm feeling so thankful today after coming off a wonderful & relaxing weekend with some of my very best friends. It's amazing how the Lord brought each of us together and knew that we would go through tragedies and triumphs in this life- and would need each other to get through them. Each of our personalities is so different & unique, and yet together we are perfect compliments to each other (and have SO much fun together!) I feel so grateful!

Dressing Room Diaries: Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Edition

Happy Happy Friday friends!!! Why am I so excited about today? Because today is the first day the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to the public- and I have my first post to share! yippee!! Last weekend Sarah & I headed to the store and couldn't stop laughing as we tried on all the things! One of the things that was most important to me was finding pieces that I didn't have to wait to wear- I mean who wants to wait three months to pull out their new purchases?! Not this girl! #InstantGratification

I can't wait to share what I found with y'all- so grab your coffee and let's hit the dressing room!

Eliza J Floral Bell Sleeve Wrap Dress (Sale- $91.90/Reg Price- $138) - Oh goodness y'all, all the heart-eyes for this one!! This is an absolutely perfect work dress- whether you work in a casual office or a more "gussied-up" one this piece is beyond perfection! Sarah works in a more formal office and me in a more fashion-oriented office and we both scooped this one up! I'm wearing a 6P.

Everything You've Ever Wanted to Know About Being a Buyer

Goodness y'all, it feels like this post has been in the works forever! Without fail, whenever I mention that I am a jewelry buyer I always get tons of questions/DMs/emails asking what exactly I do & how I got into it. So today I am taking all those questions and compiling them into one mega post and spilling everything y'all have ever wanted (or may want to) know about being a buyer!

Southern Summer: Mint Julep Boutique Floral Maxi Dress

Maxi Dress: c/o The Mint Julep Boutique || Heels: Target || Clutch: Sophie & Trey (old, similar here & on sale for $12!) || Apple Watch (I just got this new band!)

Y'all I have been stalking this dress for MONTHS- and every single time it would pop up on someone's site, inevitable it would sell out within the day! I can see why though; the romantic & girly floral pattern is so pretty and the maxi length means you can make it casual or doll it up for a fancier occasion. I also cant wait for fall to add a denim jacket for a great transitional look! When The Mint Julep Boutique reached out to work together and I saw this dress in-stock (finally!) under their new arrivals I knew I had to jump on the chance to share it with y'all!

I know you've seen me feature several pieces from The Mint Julep before (even my family knows how much I love them- my grandma got me a romper from them for my birthday!) but I thought today would be the perfect time to tell you a little more about them. The Mint Julep is an on-trend women's online boutique which features new arrivals daily and almost everything on their site is under $50! They also recently launched monogramming- so now you can get dresses, bags, and accessories personalized! They are a perfect one-stop-shop for gifts and fun fashion finds!

Make Me Chic: Multi Gingham OTS Top + $1,000 Giveaway Reminder!

Top: c/o Make Me Chic || Shorts: J. Crew Factory || Wedges: Banana Republic (old, similar here)

Do you ever have those pieces that just kind of sucker- punch you because they are that adorable?! That's the feeling I got when I spotted this super-playful, multi-gingham off the shoulder top... That breathless excitement that can only come when you spot the perfect piece! I focus a lot on buying "practical" pieces for my closet, things I can wear for work and play/things that are timeless and ageless, but every once in awhile you need those crazy-fun and totally impractical finds that make you smile- and friends this top is just that!

Since it is insanely hot out here in Fl still (low 90s with over 90% humidity) I paired this top with shorts and wedges for a casual girls night out, but come fall I plan on keeping this piece in rotation by adding skinny jeans and some sassy booties!

Tell me... What have been your favorite "sucker-punch" pieces lately? Do you love having those pieces that make you smile in your closet?

So Snappy!

Let's all give a "heck yes" to it being Friday shall we?! :) As you're reading this I'm still at Atlanta Americasmart and I'm going to guess that my feet are probably DYING after the miles of walking (literally)! This is the biggest show in the country and my boss and I are hitting every single booth looking for the next great item to bring in for the holiday season. Any guesses what we've found so far?

Alright, now let's chat Lilly Pulitzer & the must-have set you need! The past few collections from Lilly haven't done much for me, but this summer season she is pulling out all the stops (and making a big 'ol dent in my wallet)! Normally she doesn't do a lot of purple prints, but this season she created "So Snappy" (can you spot the turtles?!) and I quickly fell in love! Rather than go the traditional route of ordering a dress, I decided to purchase this tank and these shorts for a fun matching set! I love sets because you have the freedom to wear both pieces independently but you also can pair them together for a fun look too! This gives you all the look of a romper without leaving you naked when you have to you to the bathroom (#realgirltalk)! ha.

What are your thoughts on matching sets? Love 'em? Hate 'em?

Beach Days are the Best Days

Coverup: c/o Cabana Life || Apple Watch || Black Halter Bikini Top: Target (last year, love this option) || Sandals: Jack Rogers Georgica Jelly

No matter what worries you may have on your brain, a day at the beach just takes them all away! I'm sure it's because I grew up by the waves and sand, but that soothing ocean roar just relaxes me to my core. It's like taking a deep breathe and exhaling all those worries right out!

The Florida sun is powerful this time of year too- I mean watch out gentle skin a sunburn is coming! ha. But seriously, us ladies have to protect ourselves from those powerful rays (and potential long-term damage like wrinkles & melanoma) so I love packing this festive Cabana life cover-up in my beach bag! Y'all know how much I love this company- not only are their pieces cute & on-trend, but they all have 50 SPF protection built in. I mean are my little tassel details not adorable?

Where do you go when you're clearing your brain? What's your special spot?

The Colorful Romper Your Closet Needs! + A $1000 GIVEAWAY

Romper: Lilly Pulitzer Klea Romper (can also be found here) || Sandals: Palm Beach Sandals || Tassel Earring: Fab'rik South Tampa || Clutch: Sophie & Trey (old, similar option here- under $25!) || Apple Watch

Hey y'all! There is not better way to start off a brand new week than this bright & happy romper! Summertime is basically synonymous with Lilly Pulitzer and I was smitten the moment I saw this brand new romper! As I'm sure you ladies can agree, off the shoulder tops can be hard to wear (hello limited range of arm motion)- so I love a sassy cold-shoulder! Another winning factor of this piece? The breathable cotton fabric (can I get an ah-men?)! This girl doesn't enjoy sweating in a poly-blend ;) All you need are some lightweight tassel earrings & your favorite sandals and you're ready for a day downtown. I'm definitely ready for more summer fun to come!

PS- Keep reading to the end of this post for an AMAZING $1000 giveaway!! Eek! So much fun!

The Sweetest Bows for Summer

Tank: Ann Taylor Loft (runs large- size down!) || Shorts: J. Crew Factory (my new favorite shorts!) || Sandals: Palm Beach Sandals || Apple Watch || Pearls: Imperial Pearls (Sold out, similar option here)

Happy Friday my sweet friends! I'm so thrilled that another weekend is here- it may have only been a three day week, but my job sure packed a punch and I need a happy hour asap! :) I'm meeting up with my favorite gal-pal downtown tonight for some jewelry shopping (yes to sparkles!) and then those coveted cocktails! And tomorrow my godson's 5th birthday is happening and I can't wait to celebrate that sweet boy! PS- any gift ideas for a 5 year old boy?! :)

Now on to my newest and swoon-worthiest top! If there was any color that I would consider a "neutral" in my wardrobe it would be blue; and mixed with white it is just as classic as can be. So as soon as I spotted this tank I was transported to Cape Cod, and breezy summer days, and let's be real... we all need some pieces in our closet that transport us when we wear them! :) And come on, can you even with those oversize bows?! I can't! (insert all the heart-eyes!)

Wear This || Drink That (vol. 2)

Today seemed like the perfect day to share this casual & sweet summertime look! Is there anything that says summertime more than watermelons? I think not! :) In the spirit of this steamy summer weather, I put together a Saturday look that you can rock to brunch or running around town - and be warned you will definitely grab attention with this standout skirt! Also, I'm swooning over that clutch- it totally looks like a designer bag and yet rings in at $35!!! I have no doubt that this won't last long!

Also, make sure to keep reading for an easy & refreshing watermelon mojito recipe to match this look!

Scalloped Cami: J. Crew Factory || Skirt: J. Crew Factory || Beaded Bracelets: Bourbon and Bowties || Clutch: B.P (Y'all this designer look-alike is under $35!!) || Sandals: Steve Madden

Summer Loving in Loft

Romper: Loft (runs TTS, loving this option too) || Sandals: Palm Beach Sandals || Necklace: Kendra Scott Rayne || Clutch: Marley Lilly (option 1/option 2) || Apple Watch

I think it's pretty clear that I'm having a major love affair with the Loft this season. Their fall collection may have been a bit of a dud, but they totally made up for it with all the goodness this spring & summer! One part of the collection I haven't shopped a ton? The Beach line; and after scooping up this darling printed romper I am wondering why!

If you haven't shopped the beach collection before, then I'll give you the heads up that it's lighter weight materials than their regular line - since it's made for the beach! But what I adore about it is that even thought it's light weight it's NOT see through- so it's pretty perfect for summer in Florida! (Or really any steamy state this time of year). The fluttery back on this romper gives it a little something extra too- and it's unique details like that which make me swoon! I jazzed it up here for daytime, but you can easily throw this over your swimsuit and be on your way too.

Fancy Friday Finds (vol. 6)

How perfect is this colorful linen ruffle skirt for the holiday?? Love!

Woo-hoo y'all... we made it to Friday! I'm seriously so excited for a fun weekend here in town- even if I have to work 1/2 day on Monday! In celebration of the great weekend ahead, it seemed like the perfect day to share my latest round of Fancy Friday Finds- and there are seriously SO many good ones! So let's not waste any time and get to 'em!

Stylish Casual Wear

Tee: Loft || Shorts: J. Crew (on sale for $30! & also available in ruffled pink) || Shoes: Converse || Necklace: c/o Shop Gameday Glam || Apple Watch || Tassel Earrings: c/o Shop Gameday Glam

One thing people never tell you about getting older? That your weekend wear can't be lived in sweatpants! ha. I mean, technically you can wear whatever you please, but in a "big" small town like mine you are always bound to run into someone you know- which means being pulled together at all times! :) But let's be real, after a long workweek we also want major comfort on the weekends. That's where today's casual outfit comes into play!

I picked up these seersucker shorts earlier this season and feel like they were much needed in my wardrobe. It's so hard to find conservative shorts that are still young and fun- but also mature! (Can anyone else feel me on this struggle?!) For a pulled together weekend look I added my favorite white tee (seriously y'all, it's lightweight & NOT see-through!) and my Converse sneakers. Tip: my Converse had gotten super dirty so I tossed them in the washer and let them air dry and they are good as new! Now I'm ready to run into anyone who may cross my path in town ;)

#NWYLD Pink Palm Event Recap

On Sarah: Del Lago Tunic Dress || On me: Karlie Wrap Romper

Last Wednesday was not only the first day of summer, but it was also National Wear Your Lilly Day, and Sarah and I celebrated in color by co-hosting a fun event at our favorite local store- the Pink Palm! We were able to meet so many sweet local Lilly lovers & readers (hi friends!!) and just had an absolute ball trying on new arrivals, popping the bubbly and celebrating all things colorful!

I thought it would be fun to give you a peek inside the event as well as some fun "dressing room diary" snapshots! Sarah and I were in stitches all night- you know that is the sign of a great time! :)

Living the Cabana Life

Dress: c/o Cabana Life (this color is out of stock, but there are two other adorable ones available!) || Sandals: Palm Beach Sandals || Tote: Tory Burch York Tote || Apple Watch

A shirt dress is one of the most classic silhouettes a gal can have in her closet and I'm super excited to have added a new one to the mix. And this dress has a little something extra- serious sun protection! As you can see in these photos, I got a wee bit of sun burn last weekend (forgot the cardinal rule of reapplying sunscreen), which has made it all the more evident that I need sun protection at every turn!

I wore this dress from church, to brunch with my sister, to studying & working on the blog, to dinner with my family- and it was so comforting to know that my skin was safe and protected from the intense Florida heat! Add on the fact that the comfort level is like 100% and it didn't lose its shape at all during the day- I think it's the perfect closet addition!

Swinging into the Weekend

Dress: Old Navy || Wedges: Banana Republic (old, similar style here) || Apple Watch || Bangles: Bourbon & Bowties

This week was full of highs and lows, so I'm ecstatic that Friday is here! But y'all know I'm all about the positive, so let's just chat about the very best part :) Wednesday night I celebrated #NWYLD (National Wear Your Lilly Day) with the Pink Palm and y'all it was the best time ever!! It's kind of hard to put into words how much fun we had & how great it was to meet so many new friends! After a stressful few days, it was just what my heart needed. {I will be sharing ALL the snaps from the event next week!}

Stand Up to Cancer with Cabana Life

Rashguard: c/o Cabana Life || Bathing Suit: Target || Sunglasses: Target || Croakies: Simply Southern

Do y'all know what day it is?! (Besides Wednesday of course!) IT'S THE FIRST DAY OF SUMMER! There's just no way around it... this Florida girl is thrilled that my favorite season is here! Give me all of the long days, longer nights, summer parties, picnics, warm weather & ocean breezes... I'm pumped!

It's also why I felt like today was the perfect day to share some snaps from my sister weekend with you and our fun day at Madiera Beach! See, here's the thing, this girl can be really bad about not taking advantage of the fact that the beach is right down the street from me, and was in desperate need of a tan, so we packed up and decided that relaxing by the water was the only thing on our agenda! And boy did it feel good to do just that :)

Weekend Recap: All the Girl's Nights Out!

Happy Monday y'all and welcome to a brand new week! You know that kind of "ugh" feeling when you have to go back to reality after a fabulous weekend of fun? That's kind of how I'm feeling today. So, I figured the best cure for the Monday blues is reliving all the goodness that was the weekend and giving y'all a glimpse into my past few days! :)

Summertime Stripes

Romper: Loft Beach (on sale + an additional 40% off!) || Sandals: Sam Edelman Gigi || Apple Watch || Florida Necklace: c/o Shop Gameday Glam

I love stripes anytime of the year, but there is something about breaking them out in the summer time that makes them that much more, special. I mean, stripes and & summer kind of go hand in hand! #AmIRight ? So you can only imagine how excited I was when I spotted this sunset striped romper on the Loft website! I mean, don't you just want to run on over to the ocean's edge and watch the sun say goodnight? This piece is actually from their "Beach" line (meaning it's extra lightweight for days outside) but I love that it's not see through at all. And it's seriously one of the COMFIEST pieces that I have in my closet! A true winner on all fronts :)

She Sells Seashells- The Perfect Beach Dress!

Happy Wednesday friends!

Thank you so much for all your sweet comments & feedback on yesterday's post- it was so fun to put the post together and I love that so many of you were inspired to try your own DIY project. Be sure to let me know if you make one of your own!

Now on to the most perfect new summer dress! I was actually in line to check out on Memorial Day Weekend when this darling little frock caught my eye. Navy and white is the most classic color combination (I like to call it the "dynamic duo"); by adding it to this beauty seashell print you have a timeless piece! My sister is coming to visit this weekend and I have my fingers crossed that the weather holds out for a beach day. You can be sure I will be rocking my dress if so!

How to Make the Ultimate Jewelry Organizer

Well y'all, today's post is a real labor of love & I'm THRILLED to share it with you!!

Whenever I take a photo in my room, the most frequently asked questions I get are how I made my accessory wall- and today I'm spilling all the details! The good news for y'all is that this is the easiest DIY ever - even a non-DIY'er like me could do it :)

In my day job, as a jewelry buyer, there are some serious perks- one of which are the insane sample sales! (We're talking stuff-a-bag-for-$20-type-sales) Which means my jewelry collection has grown large over the past 5 years! In order to keep my collection organized, I had to come up with my own system, which I'm sharing with y'all today...

All the Girly Details: Gingham + Bows

Gingham Top: c/o Make Me Chic || Shorts: Old Navy || Sandals: Palm Beach Sandals || Clutch: BP via Nordstrom (similar color available here under $25!) || Necklace: Zenzii Jewelry || Bangles: c/o Shop Gameday Glam || Apple Watch

Well another Monday is here... doesn't it seem like they always come so fast?! For the first time in forever I had zero plans and it was glorious! I got tons of cleaning, organizing, & unpacking done around the house + lots of blog work! Super duper productive around here :)

So I have to tell you a funny story about this top. As you will see in the pictures below, the back of this top is totally open. So, when I got out of the car to meet with my aunt photographer she said, "Well that's a little sassier than I'm used to seeing!" ha. I guess when you always dress so conservatively even a little bit of skin gets you the "sassy" comments! But you know what? If I'm going to do sassy, then this precious gingham top is the way to go. The peplum hem & three big bows just stole my heart from the word go! How do y'all add a little sass into your wardrobe?

Sunday Scripture

Hi friends! Florida is drizzly and overcast, but I'm still feeling all those happy Sunday vibes :)

For the Love of Lemons

Top: Loft Lemonade Collection || Shorts: Loft Lemonade Collection || Wedges: Banana Republic (old, similar here) || Bangles: Bourbon & Bowties || Earrings: R.J. Graziano (original pair here) || Apple Watch || Beach Towel: c/o MinxNY (use code "GENTRY10")

Hey sweet friends! Happy Friday! Can I just tell you how much I missed y'all? It's no secret that I love to travel & often get bit by the travel bug, but it sure takes me out of my "routine"- and makes it hard to keep up with everything. Although I won't lie, it sure is nice to unplug once in awhile :)

I actually got back from Vegas at about 1:30am yesterday, but our luggage was delayed due to construction at the airport so I didn't get home until about 2:30am, and then due to sleeping on the plane I was WIRED and couldn't sleep until almost 4am! (#AllOutOfWack) So I finally went to sleep and then picked up Buddy Bear and headed into work after lunch. So now I'm catching up on the blog and so excited to be back in the groove with y'all!

OTS Chambray Romper + Oka-B GIVEAWAY!

Romper: Loft || Sandals: c/o Oka-B Carson (make sure to enter to win a pair below!) || Clutch: Lilly Pulitzer (similar here) || Apple Watch || Earrings: c/o Gameday Glam || Orange Bangle: c/o Gameday Glam

Happy happy happy Monday y'all! Why am I so excited?! Well let me just fill y'all in!

1. I'M IN LAS VEGAS!! Well let me clarify that I'm here to work work work, but nonetheless I'm pretty pumped to be in Vegas for the week! As you're reading this i'm probably already in my first vendor meeting (maybe my second) and hustling around the Mandalay Bay. PS- I'm trying to capture my week for y'all so I can share more about the show/my job (hope y'all will like the behind-the-scenes look)!

2. Did I mention I'm in Vegas (i.e: not in the office!)

3. I've got a great giveaway for y'all today- a pair of Oka-B Carson sandals! It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Oka-B shoes- they are the comfiest sandals and perfect for the summer season. The Carson is the perfect basic for your wardrobe - they will match anything (and come in 11 colors). You'll get to pick your color if you win! (enter below)

Cold-Shoulders and Scallops

Cold-Shoulder Top: Loft || Scalloped Shorts: Loft || Flats: c/o Oka-B Charlene in "Dove" (use code "OKABGIRL16" for 20% off!) || Necklace: Kendra Scott Rayne || Apple Watch || Sunglasses: Target

I just love that this season is all about fun, unique, feminine details! By adding the simplest little details it takes basic items "up" a notch and makes them totally unique! Case-in-point: this adorable cold-shoulder tee. On it's own, it would be a sweet and simple basic; but by adding the cut-outs and bow ties you've got a fun piece that's sure to garner some compliments :) I'm also a sucker for scallops of any kind- so of course I totally swooned over these chambray shorts- I mean, the cutest!! The perfect finishing touch was my Oka-B bow flats... this girl sure does love her bows!

May Book Reviews

Woo- hoo! It's another fun day around here, because I'm sharing my May book reviews! I was able to read 4 great books this month and I'm sharing them all (plus my thoughts) with you below. I have a big trip to Vegas coming up next week so I'm hoping to get even more new books read to share with you next month- let's keep this bookworm thing going ;)

Wear This || Drink That (vol. 1)

Now that Memorial Day has unofficially kicked off the summer season, I think it's time to start a fun new series here on the blog "Wear This || Drink That." You know they say that inspiration can be found anywhere? Well how about using some of the most colorful cocktails to inspire a great outfit? If we are what we eat (& drink) - then it should be no surprise that my cocktails are colorful! ha. So why not match them to some great pieces and inspire a new look?

So without further ado... if you wear this, how about drinking that?! PS- Scroll to the end of the post for a drink recipe!

Not So Mellow Yellow

Dress: LulaRoe Carly Dress via Shop Simply Stylish by LulaRoe (request to join and you'll get accepted to shop!) || Sandals: Palm Beach Sandals || Sunglasses: Target || Apple Watch || Necklace: c/o Stella & Dot (similar)

As y'all know, yellow is definitely THE color of the season for me! Something about this sunny shade is just so, well "summer" and makes me cheerful and happy each time I put it on. I'm also a huge fan of easy, swingy dresses that are lightweight (I mean in this summer heat I will take any refreshing feel that I can get)!

The funny thing about this dress is I kind of refused it at first. My aunt and I were finishing up blog pictures recently when she asked me to style a few pieces for her LulaRoe business. Well it had been a HOT one out there when we were shooting and the minute I put this dress on, I refused to take it off- it was that comfy! Seriously, it was like a breath of fresh air putting it on :) At first, I thought the color wasn't right for me, but once it was on it just made me happy, happy. Word to the wise on sizing though: make sure to size down- this dress runs 1-2 sizes big (I'm wearing an XS).

Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale

Happy Friday friends! Today is a pretty exciting one because not only does it kick off a long weekend (can I get an AMEN?!) but it also kicks off a weekend of ah-mazing sales! Perhaps the first (and biggest one) we need to talk about it the Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale which kicked off yesterday and runs until June 4th. As I've learned over the past few years, Nordstrom seriously carries everything & has the best customer service- that's why I love shopping with them! So today's round up is all my current sale favorites- from casual to dressy to just plain FUN... these pieces won't last long! I know I'm clicking "add to cart" now :)

These Are My Confessions...

image via

Today's post was a fun one to put together because it is a little "different" than the normal content around here. Lately I've been thinking- if y'all only knew the crazy going on behind the scenes! So I thought today I'd do what we love to do in the south, parade my crazy right out in the open & set it on my front porch!

So grab a cup of coffee, cue the Usher jams, and let's get started!

These are my confessions...

Bless Your Heart: The Cutest Southern Jumpsuit

Jumpsuit: Loft (limited sizes left, but adore this alternative and this one- so cute!) || Wedges: J. Crew Factory || Necklace: Kendra Scott Rayne (this one would be adorable too!) || Clutch: Sophie & Trey (old, this is a great option under $100) || Apple Watch || Bangles: Bourbon & Bowties

It's a brand new week- who's ready to get it started?! :)

Over the weekend I posted this photo Instagram and I got SO many comments from all of y'all! It was really fun to hear from everyone! As I mentioned there, as of this week I am "cutting the cord" with my cable and moving strictly into the land of Apple TV/Netflix/Hulu- and it's a big change! I'm so used to coming home and just turning on the TV for background noise that I know it's going to be so different to not have that ability. But, I'm pretty excited that it will help me be more intentional with my tv watching & save me over $100 a month! Win-win! If any of y'all have made the change I would love to hear from you too... join the convo!

Dressing Room Diary

Happy happy happy Friday y'all!! I couldn't possible be more excited that the weekend is here- I desperately need the next two days to de-stress from this week :)

So, what better way to start the weekend than a brand-new round of Dressing Room Diaries?! I stopped by the Loft recently and found some of the sweetest new pieces for Spring and at the end of this post are a few bonus pieces I recently ordered with store credits & such. Lots of goodies to share!

Before we start: I'm 5'4, a size 4/6 and smaller on top and curvier on the bottom- just so you have a reference point!

Plaid Off the Shoulder Top (size S) || Eyelet Shorts (wearing Size 6 & could have sized down to a 4- runs big)

Toes in the Sand with Southern Frock

Dress: Southern Frock || Sandals: Palm Beach Sandals || Apple Watch || Sunglasses: Target || Monogram Necklace: Moon and Lola

Hey y'all! Happy hump day! Today's post keeps transporting me back to the beach and I'm dreaming of getting my toes back in that sand asap!

When thinking about what to wear to a sunny (and hot!) beach, the words "light & breezy" come to mind! and friends, this dress takes the cake! Southern Frock is a brand that I have loved for awhile (check out this post and this one from the archives!) so I was super excited to get this new dress for Christmas this past year. Sadly, it ran HUGE (warning!!) and it took my tailor almost 2 months to alter it down to my size. BUT, I'm so thrilled with how the dress turned out that I can't be sad at all- I'm too excited to be twirling in it! ha.

Poolside Embroidered Dress from Monroe.26

Dress: Pink Owl via Monroe.26 || Lace-Up Heels: Sam Edelman (similar style here) || Monogram Necklace: Moon and Lola (I'm wearing a size XL) || Clutch: Shandy Style || Apple Watch || Bangle: Alex and Ani || Sunglasses: Target

Like most of the clothes in my closet, this dress comes with a story (& lots of memories!) As y'all know, earlier this year I went to see my girlfriends in Raleigh for a fun weekend to celebrate our birthdays. Well on the first day we went out to lunch at this fun little hole-in-the-wall restaurant and as we were walking over I spotted a darling boutique! They happened to have a $15 rack outside, this dress was blowing in the breeze, and just like that it was mine!! It was too cold to wear it that weekend (boo!) but now whenever I stroll around in it I remember that fun & carefree weekend! Are your clothes and memories all wrapped up in one like me?

Weekend Recap

Dress: Lilly Pulitzer Dusk Dress || How cute is my friend So Sarah Hunt?

I had such a fun weekend the past three days, and I'm so excited that I was finally a "good blogger" and took some pictures to share with y'all! I definitely hit "social butterfly" status and was zig zagging the state, but it was all for good reasons ;) So let's recap shall we?

Sunday Scripture: Beth Moore "Living Proof Live"

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend Beth Moore's "Living Proof Live" conference in Orlando, FL. I had heard of Beth Moore before, but hadn't ever done one of her bible studies, but my best friend Asha is a HUGE fan of hers! When Asha found out that Beth was coming to town (almost a year ago) she applied to be on the "home team" for the event and was selected to be the social media & marketing lead for the event! After that, I knew I had to be there :)

Honestly y'all, it's almost hard to put into words how amazing this weekend was. Two of our other besties joined us for the weekend (which in itself was such a blessing!), but being that Beth's message was spot on and the encouragement I felt walking away from the weekend was a feeling that I am still carrying with me!

Asha told me that at each event Beth delivers a different message and she prays for months over the message that she is going to deliver to each city. For Orlando the message was "The Blessed Embrace".

Mark 11:22-25 (MSG): "Jesus was matter-of-fact: “Embrace this God-life. Really embrace it, and nothing will be too much for you. This mountain, for instance: Just say, ‘Go jump in the lake’—no shuffling or shilly-shallying—and it’s as good as done. That’s why I urge you to pray for absolutely everything, ranging from small to large. Include everything as you embrace this God-life, and you’ll get God’s everything. And when you assume the posture of prayer, remember that it’s not all asking. If you have anything against someone, forgive—only then will your heavenly Father be inclined to also wipe your slate clean of sins"

A Lilly Look-Alike for Under $20!

Dress: Cat and Jack (now on sale for $17.48!) || Sandals: Palm Beach Sandals || Necklace: J. Crew Factory || Sunglasses: Target || Apple Watch

So far my track record isn't too good this week is it?! I don't know what it is, but I just haven't been able to keep up with the pace of things, but as I mentioned in this post, sometimes I just have to be OK giving up perfection!

So I did want to share a sweet story with you, because it was a great reminder to me that no act of kindness- no matter how small- is ever wasted! Last night I was walking Buddy, and the mosquitoes have been INSANE lately (i'm talking 15-20 bites/walk!) when I passed one of my neighbors on our walking trail. We were chatting for a minute when I mentioned that I was getting all bit up, and that's when she pulled out a big 'ol can of bugspray and let me load up! I know it sounds like the silliest little thing, but I had a rough day and that small act of kindness put the biggest smile on my face! So, if you see someone itching- offer them bugspray! ha.

Also, I swear after this dress I'm going to stay out of the Cat and Jack section ... maybe ;) I mean, can you even blame me when once again I spotted the most perfect dress?! This piece really reminds me of some of my favorite Lilly dresses- but at a fraction of the price. And the ruffle detail that loops around the back is just that little something extra :) I'm in love!

Taking Time to Just Soak Up the Sun

Top: Cat & Jack // Shorts: Old Navy // Sandals: c/o Oka-B // Tote Bag: Barrington Gifts // Sunglasses: Target // Apple Watch

Hey Friends! I'm so sorry that I didn't have today's post live on Monday. This past weekend was wonderful (like so, so good!) but sleep definitely wasn't a priority so by Sunday night I was exhausted from going, going, going and I feel asleep so early! Sometimes you just need to check out of "life" and go have fun, you know?!

Lately I've been feeling seriously overwhelmed & I need to take this time to enjoy the sunshine, good friends and memory-making. Between work (lots of early mornings and late nights), co-chairing the new member class of the Junior League, and keeping up with the blog, (not to mention my social life & travel!) there just haven't been enough hours in the day! I'm definitely not complaining, as I've mentioned I thrive on being busy, but even I can see that I've been busier than usual and it's starting to take a toll on my energy level. Can any of y'all feel me??

Any who... I didn't mean to dive so deep today, but sometimes I think it's nice for y'all to know that there's a very "real" person behind all these sunshine-filled pictures! I'm so thankful for this busy, wonderful life I live but it's certainly not perfect! If you have any great tips on balance (or getting more hours in your day) let me know :) ha.

Let's Fiesta! The Perfect Party Dress for Cinco de Mayo!

Dress: Cat & Jack via Target (wearing a girls XL) || Sandals: Palm Beach Sandals || Necklace: Kendra Scott Rayne || Clutch: Similar || Apple Watch || Bangle: Kate Spade (on sale!) || Sunglasses: Target

Do you have a dress that just makes you want to shake your groove thing all night long? Spoiler Alert: That's this dress for me! You know how it goes, I'm running in to Target (#YetAgain)- tired, in a hurry, & on the move- when all of a sudden I spotted this dress and I'm full on shimmying in the aisle! The bright colors and ruffle details just make this so perfect for celebrating Cinco de Mayo today. How could I resist?! I've got some pretty fun plans tonight and tomorrow, & the FL weather should be picture perfect, so I can't wait to share it all with y'all over on Insta!

Also, I've been thinking about changing up my blog layout (it's kind of like getting the itch for a new outfit!) - I'm in the mood for something new! So if you have any shops/designers you love or anything you'd like to see, please let me know! I'm all ears (and eyes!) to see what's out there.

Sweet as Can "Bee"

Top: J. Crew (sold out, love this option & this one too!) || Shorts: Loft (sold out, this is my favorite option & this one is also so cute) || Sandals: Palm Beach Sandals || Sunglasses: Target || Apple Watch

Yay for making it half way through the week! Last night was a late one- my bible study girls got together for a social and we laughed so hard my stomach hurt! All of a sudden we checked our watches and went, "how did it become 10PM?!" Time really does fly when you are having FUN! And we sure were :) Thankful for them!

Now on today's outfit! I saw these darling embroidered bee shorts in Loft a few weeks ago, but the store didn't have my size. Luckily I scored them online- because they sold out only days later! I kept hoping they would be restocked, but alas it doesn't look like they will be, so I'm sorry about that! Luckily it looks like bows will continue to be big details this season, so i've found some really cute options for you if you're wanting to recreate this look. I'm just loving all these girly details!

Pineapple Swing Dress

Dress: Lilly Pulitzer "Ophelia" || Sandals: Pierre Dumas || Clutch: c/o Marley Lilly || Necklace: Kendra Scott Rayne || Apple Watch || Sunglasses: Target

In the immortal words of N'SYNC... "It's gonna be May!" ha. But seriously y'all, how in the world have we made it to the 5th month of the year already?! The older I get, the faster time seems to go by... why is that?

This weekend was such a dream y'all! As you know, I attended Beth Moore's "Living Proof Live" event in Orlando with three of my best friends and it was the most refreshing, challenging, inspiring time! I can't wait to share more of what I learned (coming soon!) but I'm now ready to tackle the week!

Not to rub it in, but we've been having some seriously fabulous weather- and I'm soaking it all up! There's no better way to enjoy a beautiful day than in Lilly Pulitzer- don't ya think!? I'm kind of obsessed with the "Ophelia" dress - the A-line shape is SO flattering and I love the peek-a-boo detailing in the back! Since the shape is so swingy, it's still perfect for hot (and I do mean HOT!) days- although truth be told, I don't know how much longer I can wear sleeves down here!
