Sunday Scripture: Last of 2017!

Happy Sunday and happy last day of 2017! I can think of no greater way to sign off on the end of one year and welcome another than by looking to the sweet words of the bible.

Friends, if there is anything that I have learned this year, it's most definitely that God can do WHATEVER he wants- and He can do it WHENEVER he wants to do it. There are many circumstances that have happened in which I was tempted to give myself credit or conversely blame "life"- but the Lord has shown me that is is His path & provisions that have both paved my steps and stopped me from veering in the wrong direction.

This is one of my favorite verses to remind me to "stay the course"- and not give up. The Lord has such a unique plan for my life- and yours- and if we give up in the middle, then we won't reap the rewards of the amazing plan He has for us! So keep forging ahead friends & do not grow weary. There are so many wonderful things ahead!

Sunday Scripture

In my bible study we are still working our way through "Silver Refined" which is all about how God uses trials in our lives to refine us, shape us, and make us more like Jesus. One of the notes I wrote in the margin this week continues to stick with me and I though someone else might need it too: "our trials are not going to look like anyone else's, but then neither will our blessings."

Think about that y'all! God is so good that he knows just the lessons we need to learn and the hardships that will shape us. But he also knows exactly what our hearts & lives need to experience joy! There is no point in comparing our lives to others, because there is no benchline for what our blessings and trials "should" look like. Each of us has a unique set of experiences picked out for us!

I don't know about you, but what peace and comfort that brings me!

Happy Sunday!

I've been thinking about "loving our neighbors" a lot lately. In the world today, it seem that all wear hear about are our differences, divisive issues, & strife between those who don't see eye to eye. It's almost as if the world is encouraging us to not get along (I mean what would they cover on the news if we weren't fighting all the time?!)

I think a lot about this verse as a "fashion blogger." It is all to easy to get caught up in the hype that it is what I am wearing that defines me or my self worth. But the Lord tells us that this lie is just not true! What we should be putting on every day is compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, & patience. And I don't know about you, but I often forget one (or more) of these essential "outfit" pieces daily. So each morning as I pick out my dress, shoes, necklace I instead am going to start asking myself, "Did I put on my humility? Am I prepared with kindness? How can I share compassion?" Friends will you join me in "getting dressed" in the ultimate outfit this week- that of the Lord's will & teaching?

Praying that you have a wonderful week!

Friends, it has been a LONG week. Preparing for Hurricane Irma has been a stressful, scary, and humbling experience.

Happy Sunday Friends!

This verse really hits home for me in so many ways- and hopefully it resonates with some of you too!

I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that many times I have a picture in my mind of how my life is "supposed" to go & what it is "supposed" to look like. But more often than not it feels like the Lord is just laughing at that vision and saying, "silly girl." But how many of us stop listening after we hear "silly girl" and miss the most important part of the sentence... "silly girl, do you not know that my plan for you is so much greater?"

I'm feeling so thankful today after coming off a wonderful & relaxing weekend with some of my very best friends. It's amazing how the Lord brought each of us together and knew that we would go through tragedies and triumphs in this life- and would need each other to get through them. Each of our personalities is so different & unique, and yet together we are perfect compliments to each other (and have SO much fun together!) I feel so grateful!

Sunday Scripture: Beth Moore "Living Proof Live"

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend Beth Moore's "Living Proof Live" conference in Orlando, FL. I had heard of Beth Moore before, but hadn't ever done one of her bible studies, but my best friend Asha is a HUGE fan of hers! When Asha found out that Beth was coming to town (almost a year ago) she applied to be on the "home team" for the event and was selected to be the social media & marketing lead for the event! After that, I knew I had to be there :)

Honestly y'all, it's almost hard to put into words how amazing this weekend was. Two of our other besties joined us for the weekend (which in itself was such a blessing!), but being that Beth's message was spot on and the encouragement I felt walking away from the weekend was a feeling that I am still carrying with me!

Asha told me that at each event Beth delivers a different message and she prays for months over the message that she is going to deliver to each city. For Orlando the message was "The Blessed Embrace".

Mark 11:22-25 (MSG): "Jesus was matter-of-fact: “Embrace this God-life. Really embrace it, and nothing will be too much for you. This mountain, for instance: Just say, ‘Go jump in the lake’—no shuffling or shilly-shallying—and it’s as good as done. That’s why I urge you to pray for absolutely everything, ranging from small to large. Include everything as you embrace this God-life, and you’ll get God’s everything. And when you assume the posture of prayer, remember that it’s not all asking. If you have anything against someone, forgive—only then will your heavenly Father be inclined to also wipe your slate clean of sins"

Read on for Beth's seven key take-aways for us!

Sunday Scripture: He is Risen!

Happy Easter friends! This is such a special holiday as it is a reminder to me (and each of us!) just how much God loves us. The simple truth is that you and I are sinners- that's just all there is to it. And yet the Lord loves us so deeply, and wanted to make a way for us to join him in heaven, that he sent his son, Jesus, as a living sacrifice for our sins.

Just let that sink in for a minute!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas y'all!! This truly is the most wonderful and special time of the year and I'm trying my best to soak it in. From parties and dinners with family and friends, to Christmas Eve service and time spent thanking the Lord for the gift of his son, there is so much to celebrate and so much to be thankful for!

I hope that each and every one of y'all has the most wonderful celebration and feels the goodness, hope, and grace of the Lord this holiday season!

I'm taking a long weekend to enjoy my family and friends, so I'll be back here next week wrapping up the year. Until then it Christmas cookies and spiced wine for the win :)

Sending all my love and Christmas cheer from sunny Florida,
Gentry

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey y'all, just wanted to pop in for a minute and wish y'all the sweetest and happiest of Thanksgivings! I've always loved today, because it is a moment in which we can all take a step back from the business of our lives and reflect on what we are thankful for. Although I would love to say that daily I think about these things, it often falls by the wayside when "life" gets in the way. But today we get to collectively take a step back and just be- while giving thanks for the blessings big & small in our lives. So I'm wishing you the sweetest of days and hope that you are surrounded by those you love! Happy Thanksgiving y'all! XOXO
