For my second day in NYC for work I needed to "work with what I had" a little bit. Since I only had a carry-on to travel with I couldn't let my chronic overpacking tendencies come out to play and had to streamline my outfits. I decided to keep with the same boots/tights look from the day before (new pair of tights though!!) and add on a new sweater and skirt combo. Easy peasy and perfect for meetings and more travel back home!

Work Style: Loft Cranberry Drop-Waist Dress
Thursday, July 9, 2015
When it comes to my work wear, I like pieces that are simple and statement making all in one. Red is always an attention-grabbing shade & I don't own anything else in this pretty cranberry color so I thought it was the perfect addition to my rotation! I was hesitant to try a drop-waist style (since often they are too fitted through the hips for my shape) but this one is purrrr-fect y'all! It's got a loose and easy drape that leaves plenty of room for your curves; speaking of which- you can also size down in this dress because it's so roomy! (I'm wearing a small for reference) Adding my new favorite wedges makes this dress perfect for the office, but with a denim jacket and flats it would easily transition to your fall wardrobe too (ugh… are we already talking about fall?!) ha!

Black and White Stripes
Tuesday, May 26, 2015There is nothing more classic than black and white stripes, and on days when I'm looking for that extra boost of confidence in my wardrobe I can always count on this combo to see me through. I love that this dress is made extra interesting by the mixing of striped between the top and the skirt- it gives it that "little something extra" (as Elle Woods would say!)
I'm sorry I'm a little late in posting these photos, I picked up this dress a few weeks ago and now it's almost sold out (insert sad face emoji) but I've linked the sizes that are left as well as a fabulous alternative below!

I Like the Way You Work It
Thursday, February 5, 2015
Since I spend 40+ hours a week in my office, I thought it was only fitting that I share a work look with you! Although my office is quite fashionable, and one can get away with quite a lot (we are a Fasion HQ after all!) some days I really love keeping it classic. I fell hard for this J. Crew tassel top when I saw it online, and knew it would be perfect to jazz up my workweek look! Speaking of jazz, lately I'm loving adding a Bourbon and Bowties bangle (or two or three) to my wrist to add a little extra personality. Working in a cubicle doesn't have to mean sacrificing your style- how to you spice up your look at the office?

Tropical Oasis
Friday, April 4, 2014It's the end of a busy week and I felt the best way to celebrate was with a whole lot of color! If I can tell you the truth, I have never in my life owned a pencil skirt! I have always been self-conscious about my curvy hips and felt that pencil skirts just accentuated that fact. But last summer I fell madly in love with this skirt from LOFT... the tropical print + bright colors were perfect for my wardrobe! When it went on sale for under $10 it was a no brainer! Friends I am so glad I took a chance on this fun piece. Although I am not a convert to pencil skirts I love how this one fits and it has given me a fun, new look in my closet.
It will be a busy weekend over here with the Junior League "Once Upon a Tea Party and Fashion Show" (I'm modeling- eek so excited!!) Can't wait to share this fun event with you next week! Have a wonderful weekend!

Workweek Chic: Bold Colors
Tuesday, April 1, 2014
I have never subscribed to the notion that workwear has to be boring and full of basic black. Rather I believe that bold, bright colors used correctly are far chicer than neutrals! For me and this dress it was love at first sight! The fun pattern, the fabulous colors, and the conservative cut were perfect for my fashionable office! To combat the office chill I grabbed a black cardigan before I jetted out the door and I was ready to tackle the day.
How do you incorporate bold colors into your work wardrobe?

This outfit just make me happy and is the perfect way to end a workweek. It's casual (but not underdressed for the workplace), there are pearls involved, and I can talk for hours about my love for these blinded out sparkly loafers!! Not only can you work hard in this look, but you can play hard after hours too ;)

Workweek Chic: Part 2
Thursday, February 20, 2014
Today is Part 2 of my "Workweek Chic" series about what I wear to work. The occasion I am dressed for today is a vendor meeting. As part of my new position (that I start on Monday- eek!) I will now get a lot more interaction with our vendors and will get to meet with them on a fairly regular basis. As you can imagine these meetings can often be quite long- so being comfortable is just as important as looking great! I think of this as a "semi-formal" occasion- wanting to look great, but again knowing comfort is key.
I found this tweed top at the Loft a few weeks ago (and on super sale) and when I put it on it felt as comfortable as your favorite sweatshirt! That is sure a win in my book :) To "fancy" it up, I piled on the pearls and the bangles- you can't go wrong with a little bling right?!

Workweek Chic: Part 1
Wednesday, February 19, 2014
I haven't made any secret of the fact that I have a fabulous career in corporate retail that I just love! I can't complain about being surrounded by fashion- specifically gorgeous jewels- every day! I am the rare story of a girl who is actually living out her dream career. I've always know that I wanted to work in fashion, and the more I learned in college about corporate retail, the more I knew that was where I wanted to be. Four years in and I don't regret for a day that I have made my dreams come true- I know that this is exactly where the Lord wanted me to be!
However, working in an office 5 days a week means a certain "dress code". Since I work for a fashion-forward retailer I definitely have a lot more flexibility in my clothes than if I worked for a traditional corporate office (for example, we always have the option to wear jeans to work), but that doesn't mean I'm immune to those days when I need to be more "traditional".
So, I thought it would be fun to do a little "mini-series" on workweek chick outfits and show you three different looks for three different work scenarios that I encounter in my job. If you like it we can definitely do some more in the future! :)
Today I tackle an "Executive Presentation" - or what I would wear when making a presentation to our executive committee. I love this outfit because it bows to the traditional while keeping my personality in it with the pop of bright coral. For occasions like this I think it's important to keep your jewelry simple and classic- you don't want to distract from the great things that you have to say!
