Sunday Scripture: Beth Moore "Living Proof Live"

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend Beth Moore's "Living Proof Live" conference in Orlando, FL. I had heard of Beth Moore before, but hadn't ever done one of her bible studies, but my best friend Asha is a HUGE fan of hers! When Asha found out that Beth was coming to town (almost a year ago) she applied to be on the "home team" for the event and was selected to be the social media & marketing lead for the event! After that, I knew I had to be there :)

Honestly y'all, it's almost hard to put into words how amazing this weekend was. Two of our other besties joined us for the weekend (which in itself was such a blessing!), but being that Beth's message was spot on and the encouragement I felt walking away from the weekend was a feeling that I am still carrying with me!

Asha told me that at each event Beth delivers a different message and she prays for months over the message that she is going to deliver to each city. For Orlando the message was "The Blessed Embrace".

Mark 11:22-25 (MSG): "Jesus was matter-of-fact: “Embrace this God-life. Really embrace it, and nothing will be too much for you. This mountain, for instance: Just say, ‘Go jump in the lake’—no shuffling or shilly-shallying—and it’s as good as done. That’s why I urge you to pray for absolutely everything, ranging from small to large. Include everything as you embrace this God-life, and you’ll get God’s everything. And when you assume the posture of prayer, remember that it’s not all asking. If you have anything against someone, forgive—only then will your heavenly Father be inclined to also wipe your slate clean of sins"

Read on for Beth's seven key take-aways for us!

ONE: There is a WORLD of difference between accepting and embracing!
This was a really powerful reminder and the point that Beth really hammered home all weekend... While it is a beautiful & wonderful thing when we accept Jesus, it is a complete different experience when we fully embrace the kingdom life- and all that comes with walking in the footsteps and direction of the Lord. The Jesus life is so close and intimate that it should be held closest in our arms.

TWO: A hug requires an arm, an embrace takes the heart.
An embrace is a way of bringing two hearts together (think about the closeness when you go in for a hug)- but that means that we need to be careful of what we pull in close to us & who we embrace. We may love a lot of people who we don't embrace and bring in close, chest to chest.

THREE: Sometimes we have to wrestle our way to a real embrace.
Beth shared a lot of examples throughout the bible of people coming back together after a difficult rift and their embrace was filled with a wrestle before it came to the full embrace.

FOUR: Embrace your place in the gospel story.
We often feel that our story isn't "good enough" because it is different than other's. But YOU have a great story, you just may not have seen it from Jesus's point of view yet. When you put your story in the context of the gospel it brings good news! We spend so much time mimicking other people's calling, rather than figuring out what God has called for us.

FIVE: Embrace whatever suffering accompanies your Christ-following.
This was definitely a tough truth to embrace. The truth that even in seasons of brokenness, God has something for you. Let that sink in for a few minutes... No matter what we are going through, God can use it and work through it. He never leaves us and always holds us close.

SIX: Wholly embrace the one who has embraced you.
Beth challenged us that when we left the conference we couldn't leave with the notion that we should embrace everything and everyone; we must make wise decisions about what to hold close.

SEVEN: Know theres a time to embrace and a time to refrain.
There will be a lot of people in our lives that we love dearly, but we cannot embrace their beliefs. Guard your heart! We are the light of the world and we have to embrace the truth in the scripture!

I hope that you enjoyed this recap from "Living Proof Live" and that you gleaned some encouragement from it- even if you couldn't be there! It was truly a weekend I won't soon forget!

PS- Happy happy mother's day to my sweet mama! She is kind, generous, sensitive, and our cheerleader and Mallory and I are so lucky she is ours! I can't wait to celebrate with you next weekend mom :)
